Juneteenth Block Party

Juneteenth, also known as the African American Independence Day, is one of the oldest holidays in American history. Juneteenth commemorates the announcement of the abolishment of slavery on June 19th, 1865. The Union Soldiers sailed into Galveston Texas, announced the end of The Civil War, and read aloud General Granger’s Order No. 3. This announced the freeing a quarter of a million slaves in the state.
