Start the month of June with STL Open Streets, the Blessing of the Bikes, and the Dutchtown Bike Tour all happening on Saturday, June 2nd. Free summer camps at Thomas Dunn Learning Center kick off this in June as well. A multi-ward election candidate forum, neighborhood meetings, and plenty of other opportunities to engage with your neighborhood round out a busy June calendar, certainly with more to come. It was a long time coming. This week last year, residents and business owners of Dutchtown got together at City Hall to attend a public hearing to show support for the establishment of a Community Improvement District.

The Dutchtown Bike Tour and Blessing of the Bikes returns in 2018! This year the Bike Tour, which starts and ends at Urban Eats Café, will cross paths with the STL Open Streets event on Compton from Meramec to Cherokee.

As reported by NextSTL, STL Open Streets is relaunching in Dutchtown this year! On Saturday, June 2nd, Compton Avenue will be closed to cars from Cherokee to Meramec. Neighbors will be encouraged to walk, bike, and play in the open street.

The Empty Bowls Project is an international movement to help end hunger. Guests are invited for a meal of soup and bread, and as a “thank you” for donating to local hunger relief, are gifted a handmade bowl as a reminder of all of the empty bowls in the world. Once again, Urban Eats Cafe is participating in support of St. Anthony’s Food Pantry.

DT2, the Downtown Dutchtown Business Association, invites you to come down to Meramec Street this Wednesday evening for the Meramec Shop About! The shops around Meramec and Virginia will be staying open late until at least 7pm. Participating shops include Twice Blessed Resale Shop, Urban Eats, Callisto Comics, Logan’s Kids Resale, Bru Tea, and more.
