Food from Gold Star Gourmet and more!
Gold Star Gourmet, the newest addition to the Urban Eats Neighborhood Food Hall, will be serving up chicken, catfish, and homemade desserts at the Neighborhood Innovation Center. Come by and grab a plate or a snack!
But you’ll be doing more than simply supporting a new Dutchtown business. Gold Star Gourmet is owned by a pair of sisters, Idara and Uyama. Tragically, Uyama and her partner Vanessa lost their home in the devastating tornado that struck St. Louis on May 16th, 2025. By supporting Gold Star Gourmet, you’re also helping our neighbors to get back on their feet and recover from this terrible loss. If you’re not hungry, you can still support the family by contributing to their GoFundMe. You can also purchase Idara’s new book, From Cotton Fields to Quantum Fields, with the proceeds supporting Uyama and Vanessa’s recovery efforts.
If you’re looking for something else to snack on, the Urban Eats Neighborhood Food Hall will be open all day too! Tacos La Jefa serves St. Louis’ original birria tacos and quesabirrias, and Straight Outta Plants has your vegetarian and vegan cravings covered. You can also stroll a bit further down Meramec to check out the brand-new Habibi Pizza STL, featuring 100% halal pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, and more. And just around the corner, of course, is Ted Drewes Frozen Custard (note that Ted Drewes opens at 2pm).
Shopping in Downtown Dutchtown
While you’re in the neighborhood, make sure to visit some of the amazing shops in Downtown Dutchtown! We’ve got an eclectic collection of hidden treasures along Meramec from Michigan Avenue on the east to Louisiana Avenue on the west.
